Truth.

You don’t need to.

But, maybe you want to. There are several reasons. Maybe it’s a style that goes with your outfit. I love an off the shoulder but also like to have my sports bra at the top to make it look more athletic and an 80’s aerobics throw back, what can i say, I love a good Flash Dance reenactment.

Maybe you want to feel and look sexy, with a cute little number for intimate moments. Maybe your clothing is low on the sides and you are not into showing your scars. Maybe your shirt is see through and your scars show and it isn’t the time to show them off. (side note: I have the cutest see through shirt that I like to wear out, but not going to so topless under and show off my scars and tattoos at a school event.)

The harsh reality is that bras for those who have gone with aesthetic flat closure are bleak and often neutral in color and unflattering. There are for sure no sexy time bras, corsets or anything that can actually be called lingerie.

Sports bras are the ones that are most universal. Maybe a bralette here or there works. I did find one brand that had some cute styles (the back was different lace patterns and multiple colors not in varying shades of skin tones).

Look for bras that lay flat when displayed with minimal seems. This leads to less bunching and gaps because there is no “cup” for a boob to set in. Then bench press away! This sounds silly but…

With a solid foundation leading into surgery and focusing on growing my pectorals after surgery, I almost have a small amount of cleavage and definition that helps avoid the concave look may have after a flat closure surgery. And bonus… stand proud, pull those shoulder back and down. There is no need to be meek and insecure. You are recovering and thriving and nothing is more sexy than being alive.

Own it, be proud, go braless, wear one. Most importantly DO YOU the way you want!
