Taking a look at my favorite go-to holistic remedies.

Being sick during winter seems like an inevitable.

But it doesn’t have to be. The girls are constantly bringing home stuff from school and constantly blowing a nose or hacking up a lung; building their immune systems. Once exposed and signs of being sick emerge we start the sickie protocol and it looks something like this 👇🏻.

The tea kettle (which is always usually warm) gets turned on, the green tea gets brewed with a hefty dose of honey. Not just to make the tea sweet but for the ,many benefits honey brings as an antimicrobial. Remember no honey for those under 12 months of age.

Next the diffuser is loaded with Young Living Essential oils (Thieves and R.C.) and cranked all day long. The kids are plopped right by it to soak up the fumes as they drift around the house. We also have an Air Doctor air filter that is always working in the background to limit nasty air pathogens.

We then head for the vitamin box to pull out a heavy dose vitamin C and probiotic. Both aiding in the immune system rev up and health of our gut. Top that off with a small cup of kombucha and some fruit/veggies and viola your gut is happy; ready to kick into high gear. Remember 70% of your immune system lie in your digestive tract.

After that the kiddos get to rest a while, sleep as needed and play as needed. Movement is good for the cold. We take a walk in the sunshine to get a two-for (movement and sun) and sit outside with our bare feet on the grass, exchanging those electrons with the earth (grounding).

The day is topped off with 10 ml of Fire Cider (made from @mommypotamus recipe) 2-3 times a day. This “magic” concoction works wonders to prevent the sickness or to hurry it along. The last thing we do is use Xlear or the NetiPot to flush the sinuses the first day to decrease the viral load before it really gets cranking.

AND THATS IT! 🤣 It seems like a lot but it really goes smoothly and we all bounce back (or avoid it completely) quickly. Knock on wood, I have avoided all the bugs brought home this year. There have been some close calls, but with a sip of fire cider and flush of the sinuses, I have been spared. Cross your fingers this continues for me!
